CTF 152 Focused Operation Stakenet

080527-N-8539M-894- ARABIAN GULF - (May 27, 2008) - U.S. Navy Contractor Ali Hamid and sailors from the New Zealand ship HZNS Te-Mana (F 111) talk to the crew of a dhow while boarding ships in support of Operation Stakenet, a Combined Task Force 152 operation focused on ensuring a lawful maritime order in the Arabian Gulf and involved units from Bahrain, New Zealand, U.K., the U.S. and other regional countries.

Coalition ships are conducting this operation to protect key economic and energy-related infrastructure and promote legitimate use of the maritime environment.  Te-Mana and other coalition ships conduct Maritime Security Operations (MSO) in the CTF152 area of operations to develop security in the maritime environment, which promotes stability and global prosperity.  These operations complement the counterterrorism and security efforts of regional nations and seek to disrupt violent extremists' use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons or other material.  CTF152 is led by Royal Bahrain Navy Brig. Gen.
